Sam’s Place Year-End Ministry Update:

A Year of Remarkable Milestones

Expanding Our Family

We were overjoyed to welcome four new children into the Sam’s Place family this year: Hillary Clinton, Velina, Esther, and Venessa. Additionally, we celebrate our youngest learners—Beneviv, Hillary, Melania, and Bridget (pictured below) — who have successfully graduated from PP2 and are headed into Grade 1!

Breaking Barriers in Higher Education

It is rare for deaf orphans to be admitted into mainstream Kenyan Universities, yet this year, we have three students enrolled in hearing colleges, Maseno and Zetech!

• University Success: Our students are thriving at Maseno University and Zetech University.

• Teaching & Technical Training: We have two students at Machakos Teaching College and sixteen students enrolled in various technical colleges.

• Recent Graduates: Join us in celebrating our four recent Form 4 graduates who are pursuing impactful careers:

  • Felister & Jeddy (Teaching)

  • Silvia (Culinary Arts)

  • Beatrice (Nursing)

Champions on the Field and Stage

Our students continue to prove that deafness is not a barrier to excellence!

• Soccer: Alvin and Joshua represented the Zetech University soccer team, while Simon was selected for the Governor’s Cup Soccer team and competed in Uganda.

• Netball: Mercy and Jeddy reached the national level in netball.

• Arts: Most of our students showcased their talents in regional music and poetry competitions, growing in confidence and self-expression.

"Work-and-Pay"

Through our Work-and-Pay initiative, college students support a portion of their educational costs by gaining practical work experience. This program is vital in fostering dignity, responsibility, and self-reliance.

Staff Growth

To ensure our team can serve with excellence, we held a staff retreat focused on spiritual renewal and professional reflection. This time of prayer and fellowship has renewed our commitment to serving these children with deep compassion.

Looking Ahead to 2026

   As we look to the new year, our focus is on:

• Strengthening child protection systems.

• Expanding support for our post-secondary and university students.

• Improving learning resources to meet the needs of our growing student body.

One of the most moving moments of this year was our Family Reunion, where past students returned to share their success. Many now own their own businesses and have started families of their own. This is the "fruit" of your investment!

We truly cannot thank you enough for your support this past year! We hope the success of this past year is as encouraging to you as it is to us. We wish you a wonderful start to the new year and look forward to partnering with you in 2026!
